United Team News

United will be without captain Rio Ferdinand again when they clash with Benfica in Portugal tomorrow night as he has became more susceptible to injury which has developed continues to disrupt his runs In the team. Vidic is also out with a calf problem meaning United will be without their first team centre backs but the development of the clubs young defenders has been superb this season and the likes of Evans, Smalling and Jones can slip in easily and play to a very high level for united. Ferdinand is not thought to have a fresh injury but with Chelsea visiting Old Trafford on Sunday it probably seemed important to protect his captain and also give him time to recover.

Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov are included in the squad which may warrant them a rare start for United but I think he may stick with Rooney due to his fantastic form. Tom Cleverley is also out after a horrid tackle from Kevin Davies against Bolton at the weekend which saw him horrible off at after five minutes, meaning Michael Carrick and Park Ji Sung may be handed starts. United will be looking to continue their unbelievable start with a good result in the Champions League this Wednesday.
